New Brows!! Microblading, where have you been all my life?
I've waited just over 2 months to write this post as I wanted to wait until I had completed the full process of my eyebrows done. The first band main procedure and then the top up. So now I'm 2 weeks after my top up and my brows are fully healed I have lit together a quick post as I am so delighted with the results and have received so many compliments and great feedback on them.
So anyway months and months ago I knew I wanted to get my eyebrows microbladed. I have always had 2 completely odd eyebrows, both very sparse and slow hair growth! I know it was a major craze for a while and is still unbelievably popular, but I kept on putting it off as it was something I wasn't prepared to do until I was happy and secure with the person who would be applying a permanent ink procedure on my face!!! Even though my makeup kit is like every girls dream, I actually wear very little makeup myself from day to day. I am natural gal, however if I am off to a wedding or have something to go to then that is a different story LOL. But even for my natural every day self, eyebrows are important and I think it makes such a difference on everyone when they get it right! I did so much research and thankfully I had seen quite a few ladies with the procedure done through work, many brides coming to me with both good and not so good results. Price or how many people on social media got paid or sponsored by such and such and then in turn raving about it wasn't going to sway me! I've never been one to jump on the product junkie wagon so I wasn't going to start with my eyebrows.
I had narrowed down to 3 artists, one of which was Elizabeth Oakes, but what swayed me was a fellow artist friend of mine had her brows done and I noticed them and asked her about them and she raved about Elizabeth Oakes and to be honest after seeing hers I was sold! Elizabeth has been doing semi permanent makeup for 15 years, she is a PHI Master in PHI Brows and has provided the training and education for many of the well know artists giving these treatments in Ireland. Also from a customer service point of view, I was annoyed when I went to enquire with another well known artist only to be told it's all done online and upon filling in a massive form also online to which you have to send and be told whether or not you were a candidate for it. Crazy! When I rang Elizabeth's office I spoke to her assistant Ruth who was a tower of info and chatted for ages telling me everything I needed to know. I was only delighted to book an appointment! I booked my appointment the end of Jan and next appointment I could get was April, so book early girls! Ruth rang me the day before my treatment again to re confirm and if I had any questions. I was sick with nerves when the day came ( I told Brian if it was a disaster I would not be back until they faded ) but I need not have worried! I felt like I knew Elizabeth for years, so warm and friendly and made me feel so much at ease. We chatted away as she worked her magic shaping out my new brows and showed me before she started the procedure. The shape was perfect and off she went. Now I am not one to hold back so I may as well tell you, I found it very sore! She does apply numbing gel but the skin has to be broken first so that was the worst. But thankfully the process isn't too long. About 20 mins I think. Anyway when she showed me the results I was speechless!
My next appointment was for 7 weeks time for my top up. This is basically to go over the first strokes and allows her to see any imperfections. To be honest I would have gotten away without a refill but I just wanted to get the full treatment done! Even when I went back to Elizabeth she was shocked at how beautifully they healed.
They are fully healed now and my only regret is not doing it sooner. I honestly could not recommend Elizabeth enough. Based in Navan Elizabeth has monthly clinics in Dublin, Kilkenny,Cork and Tralee.
For the initial treatment it is 300 Euro and then the top up is 180. So 480 for the full treatment. I can honestly say the best money I have ever spent on myself.
